A Few Common Sexual Problems

Small or big problem can occur in all marital and non-marital relationships from time to time, but these problems are especially sensitive when they are related to sex. This is a short list of common sexual problems and how to solve them.

What causes sexual problems in women?
As we all know, certain physiological processes affect the sex life of every man, but women don’t have such problems. The most common cause for sexual dysfunction in women is based on the lack of desire, lack of arousal or painful sex. In addition, some women cannot achieve intense orgasm because of this pain.

Despite the poor relationship and stress which usually lead to sexual dysfunction in women, some women experience decrease in the level of estrogen especially during menopause. Furthermore, some diseases like depression or thyroid problems can also affect woman’s libido.

What type of medicines can result in sexual problems in men and women?
The best-known medicines that lead to these problems are tranquilizers or antidepressants. They can significantly lower the desire for sex in both women and men. In addition, women can experience low sex drive if they take certain contraceptive pills or medicines used for relieving menopause symptoms. Finally, high blood pressure medicines, antihistamines, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, drugs for cholesterol, Parkinson’s disease and few other drugs can also have negative effects.

What is the most common cause of sexual problems in women and men?
Sexual problems come in many forms, but in most cases they are defined as emotional or physical problems that prevent partners to achieve mutually satisfying intimate relationship. Some of the most common causes in men include diabetes, heart disease, prostate issues, damaged nerves in the spinal cord, lack of testosterone etc.

A common issue in women is lack of libido due to lack of estrogen or thyroid problems (which can also affect men) or painful intercourse due to vaginal dryness. There are also some couples that experience problems because they use substances that affect the sexual function. These substances include nicotine, alcohol, narcotic drugs, drugs for high blood pressure, antidepressants and antihistamines.

Frequent sexual problems in men
Numerous scientific surveys and studies have confirmed that the most common problem among men is premature ejaculation. About 75% of men who have sexual problems belong to this category. Premature ejaculation is defined as a type of ejaculation that occurs before or short after the sexual intercourse begins. Although almost each man can experience such thing from time to time, this problem has a chronic nature in some men. In such cases, the cause might be found in the sensitivity or light stimulation of the nervous system, lack of control over the body’s ability to respond to excitement or obsessive compulsive disorder. Chronic premature ejaculation can be treated with antidepressant medications which need to be taken 12 hours before the sexual intercourse.

There is another cause that is frequently overlooked – prostate gland infection also known as prostatitis. In cases like this, men are advised to follow antibiotic therapy. Things like medications and stress can also lead to temporary sexual problems.

Is there a solution for female libido?

The pharmaceutical industry has been trying to produce a medication that can boost female libido for years now. However, it seems that none of the final products give the needed results. You probably know that there are a lot of male libido medications like Viagra for example that can help but there is a significant difference between the problems of female and male libido and that’s why we need different approach.

It is good to know that there are some highly effective therapies that can help women suffering from this problem. These therapies and treatments can increase the female libido. The starting point is figuring out what is causing the problem in the first place. One thing is for sure, when you live a healthy life and you are in a satisfying emotional relationship your sex drives is most likely good unlike when you are tired, sick or emotionally fragile.

These are some of the things that have negative effects on female libido – hormonal changes during menopause, hormonal changes during pregnancy and after pregnancy, chronically stress, all types of problems (problems at work, at home, in the relationship), depression, using some medication that affects the libido in a negative way (antidepressants, blood pressure medication etc.), problems associated with mental health etc.

All these things can appear separately or in most cases in a group.
So the main question is how to revive the libido. The first thing that you can do is talk to your doctor about the specific sexual problems that you have. He might change your medications; guide you to some exercising process or something similar that can help you. You can also consult your gynecologist or sexual therapist which usually has more experience with sexual problems. Keep in mind that all these conversations are private and confident and in most cases they can solve your problem.

Your doctor can prescribe you new medications and some of them are known for the positive impact on female libido. These medications include:
Medications for erectile dysfunction in women who have trouble achieving orgasm/ These medications increase the blood flow to the genital area but they can only help with the level of sensitivity, they cannot directly affect the orgasm.

Estrogen skin creams are very helpful for women that are suffering from dryness in their vaginas. This dryness often makes the sexual intercourse painful resulting in lower sexual desire. This is a direct result of lower levels of estrogen in the body.

Certain antidepressants can also be useful especially for women who have not yet entered the menopause or as a substitution for known antidepressants that affect female libido.

Testosterone and other so-called androgens are not only useful for men they can work for women too. Some doctors advise using testosterone for women that have low sexual desire. However there are some side effects so you must be careful.

Besides the medication there are numerous things that can improve female libido like relaxation, healthy diet, walking, socialization etc.

Natural testosterone supplements

The topic of sex used to only be discussed in private amongst couples. It used to be that younger couples would have sex, get married and then raise a family. Then as couples got older, they would naturally lose interest in sex and eventually sleep in separate beds. Since sexual health problems were something not discussed in public, people never knew how to fix their sexual problems. Now days the topic of sex is very openly discussed amongst everyone. Older people are starting to realize that they can get their interest in sex back and continue to sleep with their wives. The secret has to do with testosterone production. As people get older, their adrenal glands stop producing as much testosterone as it used to. This causes a person to have a lower sex drive, which means they won’t get aroused or have any desire to have sex. The solution to this problem revolves around ways to get the adrenal glands to start producing more testosterone once again.

There are two basic methods of increasing testosterone production in the body. The most natural way is to do cardiovascular exercise. This could be a simple 20 minute walk or jog in the morning. Not only will this raise your sex drive, but it will keep your heart healthy as well. Of course, we live in an age where people don’t want to hear about exercise or solutions that require much effort. Many people would rather just take a sex pill to solve their medical problem. Fortunately, there are testosterone supplements that come in the form of a pill that will help the body produce more testosterone. What’s even better is that these pills can be bought over-the-counter at your local drug store. This is convenient for people that don’t have a lot of money to spend on a doctor’s examination. Of course, if you do have the money to spend on a doctor then it is always a better idea to get your testosterone supplements from them.

The reason for this is because they will measure your body’s testosterone level in order to determine how much more testosterone you actually need to increase your sex drive. Then they will write you a prescription for a testosterone supplement, so that you will have the exact amount you need without having too much. Men don’t really seem to care if they have too much, but women sure do. After all, women are naturally not supposed to produce as much testosterone as men. So, if they overdose on the testosterone supplement then they could start seeing negative side effects. However, women don’t normally need to take these supplements for their sexual health. Men are the ones that need to get an erection, so they desperately need testosterone.
